Dry Needling
Why do I do Dry needling and what is it?
A Trigger point is a localized tender spot within a taut band of muscle fibres. It is prevented by pain to reach its full length and has reduced strength and endurance. Active Trigger points cause local sensitivity in the muscle(s) and pain can be local or referred.
Dry needling into the offending trigger point leads to a twitch response. This helps normalise the sensitivity and reduce spasm (improving length into the muscle, increasing local blood flow, clearing out of pain causing chemicals and quieting pain signals).
The needle itself is sterile and is a therapeutic way in reducing the spasm. A”twitch” is often felt in and around the muscle needled, and may refer into the pain zone.
I was trained in a postgraduate over 20 years ago and often use Dry Needling – (with your consent), to any muscles that I feel is the cause or contributing to your symptoms in conjunction with other techniques. It is not indicated in all presentations. You are in good hands.

- Speeds Up Recovery – Enhances healing by stimulating blood flow and natural repair processes.
